Red

The lights flicker when no one is around. The once bright eyed, big smile, happy girl disappears like she never existed. She comes home everyday tired and exhausted. Hides in her room to be away from the noises. Flashbacks of her day go by in her head. Yells echo through her ears. She bundles up in her bed hoping to sleep it away. But then she eventually wakes again. Relives it all again, and again,...and again. She hopes for a change, but when will that change ever come? Nothing has ever changed for her, except her health. As time goes by it decreases. Everyday gets harder and harder to withstand the hurt and pain. She is tired of fighting, she wants peace. One night she goes to the bathtub. She draws a bath, nice and warm. She didn’t want to be overwhelmed with hot water nor cold water. As the bath is full, she lays in the water. Takes her razor blade, and makes two deep cuts on both wrists. She lets the blood flow out, and eventually you don’t see water, you see red. Her eyes droop, she feels light and she finally feels relaxed. Minutes go by and she sleeps soundly. And soon enough, her body will shut down too. By the time her parents noticed, they were too late. They realize the mistakes they made, and are full of regret. But she doesn’t regret anything, because now she has finally found her peace.
