Red

Red,

red pain,

like a sea

full of shame,

a field of hate,

on the American flag.

A shot of a gun,

The pull of a rope.

A fire that burns

at our pride.

We scream,

we fight,

we ask why,

but the answer

that appears

is red,

like the end of a life,

a story,

a trend.
