Red
The throbbing in the back of my neck makes me see red
From the fighting, the protecting, and the dread
Lighting my fire and leaving me for dead
All I can see is red
When no one understands your mind is made of concrete
And when you try to swim out of it all it weighs you down
Oh, I start to drown
And I start to see red
Everyone tries drilling into my concrete mind
but they dull their drills and hate what they find--
The hardest stone known to man
They hate how little I plan
And I don’t have a single fan
When I start to see red
No one quite understands why I act the way I do
The twitching and flitching and picking I do
The caring, the sharing and kindness I display
They don’t understand I don’t have another way
I’ve been called “Lennie”
That makes me see red
No one tries to understand my head
They pick, they drill, and try to bash me open
But they don’t sit and listen
I try to tell them but they don’t listen
Why I see red
And why I fixate
and why I see red
