The Red, The Gold, The Black, and The Green

The Red, The Gold, The Black, and The Green

By. Jelani

Red, a primary color

My brothers and sisters shed

Back when we weren’t killing each other

Back when we were fighting for our friends and our families

The blood we shed getting kidnapped, raped, and slaughtered by our enemies

Gold, the wealth and the luxury

The Kings, Pharaohs, and queens we once used to be

No Poverty to be found

By far the richest continent in the world as you can see

Black, which resembles me

You hear about us

But not a lot from our history

Green, this is the motherland

Where animals run free

And travel in a band

From the size of a tree to as small as a bean

These are the African colors

The Red, The Gold, The Black, and The Green
