Red Hair, Blue Socks

Red hair, blue socks—

your unexpected smile

warmed my heart,

made me whole,

even if only for

six hours, or so.

Blue sweater, blue jeans—

your shape is beauty,

honest, and whole,

when you stood to stow your suitcase,

even if only for

six hours, or so.

Brown skin, lavender nails—

your life before me

opened my world to

so much more,

even if only for

six hours, or so.

Golden heart, silver soul—

I hope to know you,

now and in the life to come.

But if neither are granted,

the pleasure was mine,

even if only for

six hours,

or so.
