A Red Poppy on the Wall

Started by a single shot

A red poppy on the wall

The world became a melting pot

A red poppy on the wall

Young they were that marched away

A red poppy on the wall

Buried now in cold gray clay

A red poppy on the wall

Paid a penny for blood shed

a red poppy on the wall

Row upon row of boys now dead

A red poppy on the wall

Tearful mothers who’ve lost their sons

A red poppy on the wall

Fodder for the monstrous guns

A red poppy on the wall

Needed more that dreadful war

A red poppy on the wall

Yet just another bloody encore

A red poppy on the wall

Broken bodies shattered minds

A red poppy on the wall

Quaking now behind closed blinds

A red poppy on the wall

Soldiers now angels go with grace

A red poppy on the wall

But grieving families can only place

A red poppy, ... on the wall.
