"Red Ribbon, Red Ribbon"

Red Ribbon, Red Ribbon says

“what is that red thread hiding behind your ear?”

You pull and tug at it but it never

sticks to your fingers.

Does that thread make you afraid?

That you can never pull it enough to see if

it is truly there?

Red Ribbon, Red Ribbon

“What is that red thread dotting the snow behind you?”

You look behind your back, only

to see a fraction of the Ribbon behind you.

Does that Ribbon make you afraid?

That you can never look far enough

to see if it is truly there?

Red Ribbon, Red Ribbon says

“What is that Red Ribbon coming from your chest?”

You look down to your chest, grasping at the

Ribbon but never able to pull it out.

Does that Ribbon make you afraid?

That you can never pull it out of

you completely?
