Red Roses

I remember my first time on stage

My heart was racing a mile a minute

Tears started to form in my eyes

I was a shy child

Afraid to be in the spotlight

You saw me crying in the wings before I went on

Pulling me into a hug

You told me everything was going to be alright

When you saw me from the crowd

I know you wanted to scream

“Hey that’s my daughter!”

And when I ran to your arms after the show

I was greeted with bouquet of red roses

You gave me a confidence I never thought I’d have

Thank you
