Red Roses

With thorns aplenty

And leaves like knives

To fill what is empty

To make happy lives

A flower for romantics

A symbol of passion

They are oh so frantic

To be a favored part of fashion

Red of devotion

A gift to my lover

A beautiful notion

There could never be another

A promise to keep

I see you every night

As i turn out the light

Just before I go to sleep

  I wake up to cold

  The absence roses

  Forgotten and sold

  They are no longer

  The roses have grown old
