Red String of Fate

Dear Maura,

I think this is what you would call being "soul mates",

because even when I fell

my heart reached out to you

before I ever loved myself.

No matter what the distance,

somehow we kept meeting again.

At the very least,

we were destined to be friends.

A calling in the wind;

it was so very long ago.

Stillness from the storm,

and weeping in the snow.

I was living in solitude;

trapped inside my mind.

Lost within my dreams

as I forgot about real time.

The day we met, my fate had changed.

You stopped the everlasting rain

that clouded corners of my vision

and left me crying in vain.

If there is one thing I can say

from the bottom of my heart:

you are the miracle that I wished

would bring me a brand new start.

Sincerely,

Emily Smith
