Red String of Fate

They say the gods tied us together;
Made it so the string would stay forever.
I thought you may be my one and only,
Till we parted ways and I was lonely.
People come and go, never staying
They want pleasure and no complaining.
I stare at my pinky, where it's said to be tied;
But no string lingers, leaving tears to be dried.
I question if the gods are still there,
Why should they keep me here.
Why they should part us if we
Were meant to be.
You have me around your finger;
I just wish she wouldn't linger.
But if the gods are gone;
Is our curtain drawn?
