Red-Velvet Cupcakes
Remember when the Kindness Cafe existed?
Remember how we’d go after Joey’s class?
It was February and they had cheap Red-Velvet Cupcakes-
We’d buy some and eat under the stairs-
We’d be sneaky, and not be told off-
We would get yelled at, though, since cupcakes aren’t healthy…
Who gives a damn, we were happy in our club house-
We talked about our fears, and the perils of catholic school and many secrets-
Remember how beforehand we would joke and laugh in Joey’s class?
Remember how I’d almost always be late since I was getting my coffee?
Remember Annie, and “I miss David!" and that wretched ‘Beach Party’?
Remember how on the day of silence you were the only one I talked to-
You were the translator, and I couldn’t help talking to you!
That was such a nice February!
It’s kind of like this again-
We’re spending Valentine’s day together!
We’re seeing Joey!
Cabaret happened then, too, and I confided in you-
We rightfully mocked the movie version-
As we mocked many of the movies we had to sit through
But it wasn’t mean-ness, it was something we enjoyed doing!
Beach Party- Oy Vey!
But with you it made every second of the awful ones worth it!
And this here certainly isn’t awful!
I am so glad to be spending Valentines Day with you-
Happy Valentines Day, Terese
