Redemption's Rest

Magnificent, her ebb defines the wind.

A soul triumphant marches through the black,

And day is peace because of who she is,

And night is peace because of who she is.

A smile holding tenderness of none,

Imprinting like a wax seal on my love,

As if her joy was stolen from above,

As if her light was drawn from golden dawn.

Shadows flee when she is by my side.

Illuminating all I hold inside

Empowering all I had hoped to hide

Revealing who I harbor from inside.

My fate depends on what she can concur:

She held the truth within her open heart.

My hero isn’t one, but lives in her.

My hero pushed my heart and mind apart.

The breath I breathe, the one great thing I did

Has fallen through the cell that held my love.

We seek to find redemption in our past,

Redemption seeks to find a love at last.
