Reflection
Every morning there was a struggle to get up.
My reflection was clogged with the not get enoughs
Not good enough at sport that my mom would watch me play,
Not good enough for my crush to take me on a date.
Not good enough for a job with a good pay,
And they sat in my head with a great amount of weight.
My self- image was distorted by the world that surrounded me,
And in the mirror, I could see the lines that had once defined me
Were blurred by my desperation to be accepted by society.
I had become one of many with no sense of individuality,
but through lessons wrapped in my days full of mishaps,
And through conversations with stranger and shared laughs,
I found strong moments of clarity of who I could be,
And it was then my reflection began to look more like me.
