Reflection

A girl stands directly in front of me.

Her eyes follow mine as she begins to smile.

I desire to know more.

I look closer and see the pain that she keeps hidden.

Her soul consists of emptiness.

She is burdened with hatred she retains inside.

How could such a pure human be so damaged and adrift?

She lives her life to please others, hoping one day they would return the love she once set free.

She was nothing but used.

I was waiting for words but nothing came out.

The smile starts to fade away.

Her eyes reflect a sudden loss of faith.

She looks down in resentment as she vanishes abroad into her lifeless spirit.
