Reflection

It may only be a trick of the light.

It may just be my tired eyes blinking,

But I think, just maybe, I look all right;

But it may just be wishful thinking.

I continue to stare at the glass on the wall,

The glass that can make my day.

It doesn’t say anything at all,

Yet it still has a lot to say.

Today, it says I look pretty.

My eyes are bright and my hair is just right.

My legs are long, my waist itty-bitty,

So today I’m happy. I won’t put up a fight.

But day after day, it becomes clearer.

It can’t really make me happy; it’s only a mirror.
