Reflections of a Magic Mirror

Familiar were the claws wrapped around my handle,

A blend of fur and sharp nails,

The face,

Of a beast,

Peered into my reflection,

Where my complexion revealed his face,

Awake!

Awake!

The master has summoned,

The truth of the matter again,

Of a day,

And a time,

Of a question on the mind,

Of the Beast of the enchanted castle.

Many are the questions that tangle my mind,

Must I give him the answer again?

He asks,

For a task,

I shall not refuse his directions,

Yet the truth that he seeks leads to pain.

Hello?

What’s this?

A new hand do I feel,

Fingers wrap around my handle!

It’s a girl,

Whose brown eyes,

Peer into my reflection,

Where my complexion reveals her face.

Awake!

Awake!

A new master has summoned,

The truth of the matter to see,

Of a day,

And a time,

Of a question on the mind,

Of the belle of the enchanted castle.

How it torments my soul,

To be forever bound,

As reflector of the truth!

She asks,

For the truth,

I cannot ignore her hearts wish,

Alas the truth once again reveals pain.

Harken!

Who’s there?

A gruff hand has grasped me,

Handsome yet hateful is he,

I stutter,

I can’t hide,

From the question on the mind,

Of Gaston on his way to the castle.

Alas it has come!

Shall I bear this again?

Shall I reveal wishes once more?

I long,

To protest,

Long to spare them of pain,

For more truth shall cause distress.

Hear well!

Hear well!

Listen well one more time,

Of the truth of the matter to see,

That I think,

And cry,

Questions come to my mind,

As magic mirror of the enchanted castle.
