Reflections in the Mirror

Who is this girl that I see as I glance into the mirror She stares at herself before her eyes began to tear She yells at her reflection, a scream that no one else can hear She hides from herself because in her heart there is fear The look of a person who doesn’t know who they really are But deep down inside she knows that she is a star Who is afraid that in time she wouldn’t get as far? She says to her reflection I don’t know who you are A person who looks at herself and doesn’t see any good But sees a person who should, could, and would be If only she could identify her identity In her mind life would be over eventually Her own thoughts of the world’s epitome Is known to believers as infinity Know one wants her No one needs her No one cares about her education She stayed strong through dedication But still remained weak through hesitation The feeling of isolation discombobulated from her generation They say that good things come in time But she was never known for having patience She felt so insane but not free Her heart ached painfully But not from the beat of a main artery But from the thought of ones psychology She was down when all was up She was above what she thought was corrupt But didn’t have much So her thought was to give up But wasn’t quick enough to make her move Before someone came and interrupt Her life was at the point of no return To her concerns Life was just wasted time She wasn’t smart, she wasn’t pretty, she wasn’t fine Everything that she believed was in her mind But to others she was defined As a girl who was so talented But was also scared Scared to take risks Because she was afraid that no one really cared She was hurt, she was sad, she was depressed, she was mad She was confused, she was suicidal She was opinionated to her own title Why is life so hard? Why are we put on this world to fail? To suffer through living hell Because of how Adam and Eve rebelled She thought all these things But never thought to change To adjust and live by the laws of the land While the world remained the same She always wanted to belong But always ended up alone She suffered on her own Because her house was not a home How could teens be so mean? And so obscene to others dreams She stuck out like a sore thumb Around big crowds she wasn’t one She never was included in the fun Because to others her reputation was none She wasn’t stupid, she wasn’t dumb She wasn’t old, she wasn’t young She wouldn’t walk, she couldn’t run She wasn’t Muslim or a nun She was neutral to the facts That her standards were balanced Not loud nor quiet But her position remained silent The life of a girl who was loss Who sold her life at no cost? She did drugs and alcohol Because under the influence Her problems were solved Her body was scarred for eternally Through experiencing different surgeries She was on the verge of breaking But explored the world nervously She thought to herself This person staring back at me in the mirror is not I Instead she saw a stranger Who was headed for danger, and was willing to die She thought nothing could change her Until God became her savior The reflection of herself Was the reflection of someone else? Some one from a different world Someone who was a different girl But suddenly she came to her to her senses And her vision became clearer This person that I see is my reflection in the mirror
