Reflections on an Unending War
When there was a word.
Once upon a time.
Spoken in a phrase.
Trapped in every line.
Men and women-
Boy and girl alike.
All find their way to-
Discover the fight.
Breathe in and relish-
Unyielding, bright light.
Take turns, take time.
Ask yourself ‘Why?’
Why do we do this?
Why do we even try?
What do we have to gain?
What did we even have to lose?
Who is even waiting for us to win?
Who will we have when the day is over?
When will the battle finally be over?
When will the ripples settle?
How do we survive?
How do we win?
Do we die?
Do we?
