Reflections: Written on Behalf of an Alzheimer's Patient

Memories lost,

the uncertain future,

happiness, innaccessible,

however,

the future is rainless,

family's love lingers,

and, I,

still brisk,

despite all that has vanished,

I still see life in all its splendor,

the light that shines in all its radiance from my window onto my wrinkled cheeks,

the flowers that bloom in the beds with brilliant color,

short walks that rejuvenate my tender soul,

nurses that tend to me with their leveled caps and dresses pressed white,

and, finally,

my friends,

sailing on the same murky ship,

delicately smile with me as we embark on the final days of our astonishing and forever sustaining,

awesome life.

Memories lost,

but forever cherised,

the future uncertain,

but glanced upon absolutely,

happiness,

gainable,

for there is no other life as good as this.
