Regret

Regret

Why did I not see this looming fate?

My friends told me this was against my better nature.

I wanted nothing more than to feel certain.

I know I’m a good person.

How important are these convictions?

The responses to my actions were unexpected.

I tried my best to fix the wrongs I engendered by my uncertainty.

I know I’m a good person.

When did this ignorance turn from bliss to blisters?

My friends were right and I was wrong.

I’m waiting for my first “re-do.”

I know I’m an okay person.

How did I think this would work?

I’ve hurt her just as much as I’ve hurt myself.

My “re-do” never came.

I know I tried my best.

How long until this agony wanes?

She understands bits and pieces.

I made my own decisions.

I know I messed up.
