Regret

I wish I could say

At the closing of Life

I wish I could say

I gave it my all.

I wish I could say

I fought the enemy

That I witnessed its red eyes

Dilate and close.

I wish I could say

I never allowed the Sirens

With their cursed melodies

Tempt me to my grave.

I wish I could say

I never let my heart stop beating

Never fell down and

Sink away from the world.

I wish I could say

My scars from the wars fully healed

That I never

Let it stop me.

Now

The time is close

The hour is upon me

The darkness will open.

I wish I could say

I never gave in.

I wish I could say

But I can not.
