Regrets

Sitting down by fireside, watching those extinguishing flames ever so slowly dying away

The embers and red ruby sparks, falling upon my exposed flesh

That burning sensation running through my body

Every burn leaving a scar; a memorable mark

Each one for every mistake that was ever made

And as the flames extinguish, darkness is so welcoming

Feeling the weight of it around me, surrounding me, constricting me, enveloping me

Enclosed within its ironclad grasp

Unable to move, unable to breathe

Going numb as the air completely leaves my body

Dying to intake a rush of oxygen, despising every second of it

Wanting to go back and fixing everything, regretting every wrong ever committed

All sense leaves me, my conscious slipping away ever so slowly, yet so quickly

Fighting for control, falling away into the depths of this darkness instead

Entering this void I left so long ago

Reviving its presence within me again once more

Taking me over just like before

Darkness the mere absence of light

Everything so out of sight

No longer am I here, no longer will I be

All I have left to say is that I’m Sorry.
