Regrets

I listened to his whispers,

a promise, then loud slander.

I fell into his trap

and began the natural banter.

Everyone disowned me,

I was left deserted.

The only soul on Earth that remained,

was that God-sent boy who took away the pain.

Forgive me God and Matthew

for my biggest regret

Sometimes his whispers still come back,

and are hard to forget.

'Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from your presence,

and do not take your Holy Spirit from me'

Thank you God for your kindness, thank you for your mercy.

I should have been alone that night,

but instead, you sat beside me.
