Regrets of a Growing Girl

As a child he's kind of like your best friend He's there to bandage your scraped knee There when you have a heart to mend He tucks you in every night and your favorite stories, he always read The days he had to work late are the days that you would dread As you get older your independence grows You soon start to challenge what your father knows You no longer crave always having him around You have plans with your friends and new interests are found Your best friend becomes your enemy and you constantly tell him "I hate you" You no longer see eye-to-eye and you can't stand all the fights you go through But before you know it, he's gone his soul rises to the sky Your forced to realize that he's never coming back and you didn't even get to say good bye You feel like your body has shut down Like what has happened isn't real Why was it Daddy's life that God decided to steal? You soon start to feel the regret You wish you would of held his hand or spend more time with him by canceling the things you had planned If you could go back in time you would tell him how much he meant to you You don't know if you can live without him and this is something your not strong enough to go through
