Rejection
My heart is beating fast.
Faster, faster, faster...
I stumble on my words,
But I make it through.
It is done.
Now I wait.
Yes! It's time!
My heart is beating fast.
Faster, faster, faster...
I read the list,
Scan for my name.
Nothing. Emptiness. Rejection.
What did I do wrong?
I cry. Rejection.
Why does this always happen?
Why can I never get it right?
Don't say you understand,
You, whose name is always on that list.
Don't.
You don't understand.
You, who everyone knows,
Who everyone loves.
Whose name is always there.
I don't want your pity.
Or your lies.
You don't understand.
You, who is always chosen,
Always so strong and confident.
Please, don't tell me you understand.
You don't understand my hurting heart.
You don't understand the tears of dissapointment.
Dissapointment in myself.
You don't understand my rejection.
Your name is always there,
And I am always left behind.
You don't understand.
You don't understand.
Rejection.
