Rejection Letter

Rejection letter came today

And I should be upset

Rejection letter came today

And still I’m happy yet

For now it feels oh so real

That I am now a writer

And since I submitted another poem

I am now a fighter

Rejection letter came today

I don’t know what to feel

Rejection letter came today

Now my job is real

I have to say, I did expect

To get a letter like this

That several places might reject

And the feeling I won’t miss

Rejection letter came today

And yet this feels so wrong

Rejection letter came today

But still I sing this song

So here’s to my writers who’ve been rejected

I raise my pen to you

And ask to join in what’s expected

And ignore the feelings in blue.
