The Relationship I Truly Needed

You said one day we would be married,

"Because I love you, I can promise that" you whispered.

Oh, you never could keep your promises.

We began as we should have,

Best friends turned lovers.

But you changed, and shut me out.

Because I love you, I tried to get you back.

I was not going to give up on us,

But you gave up a long time ago.

You did not give me the love I needed.

You could not stick through tough times.

You were a drug to me,

However I was taught that drugs are unhealthy.

I let you go and went to find a healthy realtionship.

Who could have guessed, it would be with myself.

Becaus I love myself, enough to do what is best for me.
