Relationship Trials

My boyfriend Michael, is seriously the most wonderful man I have ever met! Michael has a spontaneous personality with a pinch of dorkiness within him. We met the first week of our freshman year in college. The way we met was ironic in a way. He first met me outside our college dorm on the basketball courts, where my passion is and where I go play to think about my life. He talked to me about my desire for basketball and wondered where I wanted to go with such a skill. I didn't know what I wanted to do, so he made me watch inspirational videos on YouTube and that was like a wake up call for me. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and explore all my options out there. We hung out and talked a lot after that, we eventually had fall in love with each other and were dating. We have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day we kiss and make up. He is one of my many reasons for living and getting up early to go work out! Together we are dorks and we are horribly perfect for each other, as my friends call us. He's cute and I love him and I appreciate everything he does for me. I couldn't have wanted a better imperfectly perfect man in the world. Just a few months ago he was offered a job in California for the summer of 2014, being his girlfriend I encouraged him and it was a once in a lifetime chance. He took that opportunity and I was okay with it at the time, now he is gone till August and I won't be able to see him till then. I was also offered something as great! I was offered to apply for a University in Colorado, I told him I applied about the same time he was able to apply for the job and we seemed happy and okay with each others decisions. A few months flew by and we became more closer than before. He sang to me almost everyday and we were crazy about each other. It's amazing how me made time out of our busy hectic lives for each other. Such as; I was busy with school and working out. While he was way busy with his fraternity and his schoolwork. We made it work somehow. The days flew by then our last day date seemed like a second and then the next day it was time. He had to go to California and I had to stay back and go home. Crying on the sixth floor of the dorms we were sad. The last words he said to me was, "See you soon!." As I watched him from the stairs disappear around a corner where he was getting in a car to leave. I slowly walked up the stairs to the third floor and I seen his friends and I just broke down right then on the floor and cried like a baby. His friends and roommate tried to comfort me, but I knew he was gone. People walk into our lives for a reason, we may not know the reason, but they do. Michael I believe came into my life and made me believe in myself, that was always something I had lacked in my life. He was my inspiration to do everything I did my first year of college. I'm still saddened from his depart, and I'm wondering if this is good for my mental health. If it is good for my mental health, that means next time I'm in a relationship it won't be so hard. I don't want to be in another relationship, because I don't want to feel this way again. I feel like my heart was torn out of my chest and stomped on so many times that all I want to do is lay down and cry. Crying is good for your mental health and relieves stress for you. Crying for me is confusion and heartbreak...everytime I cry it is because for those reasons. Relationships can be good for your mental health, but they could be negative in a way. I don't want to be lead on to the negative pathway, but lead in the right direction. I hope this long distance relationship lasts and I hope he comes back to me soon. Before he left he said we'd always be best friends forever. I really hope he means it and I really hope he comes back.
