Relationships
If there's no trust, there's nothing
My first boyfriend tricked my young mind into believing that he couldn't trust me if he couldn't log into my social media
There was no privacy, no friends, no messages he couldn't see
Why should I want my privacy?
That must mean I'm keeping secrets- that I have something to hide
It wasn't until I spilled everything to my best friend that I began to question these ideas
And it wasn't until I watch someone else be in a toxic relationship until I realized it was unhealthy
I'd tell her to run- stay away from him
"He's no good," I'd tell her
I began to realize I was swimming in a pool of my own hypocracy
How could I be worried for my best friend and see nothing wrong with my situation?
One year of feeling like I was under someone's thumb before I realized I should be done
What is a relationship without trust?
Why should I be with someone that has to scavenge through my phone for reasons to not trust me?
Honesty and trust are the most vital aspects of a relationship- they mean nothing without it
If you have to have access to all of someone's most private things, you don't belong in that relationship
Building a friendship should begin before building a relationship
Starting with honesty and trust
Love doesn't come with guidelines
Unconditional love doesn't have rules
It doesn't mean "you only love me if you'll do this for me"
Love isn't conditions and rules- it's far more simple
