I once knew a girl

Who belonged only to herself,

But she was lovely and lonely,

Lost in her own story.

She dreamed of distant, far away lands,

Feet in yellow sandals treading on sand.

Visions of twinkling Parisian lights,

Of masked dancers waltzing through the night.

Her ideas overflowed, overpowered her,

Such is life;

Until she wielded a pen

And started to write.
