Release
Poetry releases me,
the same way Harriet Tubman guided many slaves to safety,
it made me feel free.
Poetry releases me,
releases my emotions, talks to me and listens unconditionally
Poetry releases me,
releases me from fear and anger that manifested over years
Poetry releases me,
gave me an outlet when my loves basketball and soccer created the tears
Poetry releases me,
didnt always need it to rhyme but just to pass by the time
Poetry releases me,
helping to clear a clogged mine, prevent me from crossing the line
Poetry releases me,
that time I thought I had lost her,
but poetry made sure it lasted a bit longer.
Poetry releases me,
we all have the gift, just dig down deep
Cause for me, the word release became synonymous with Poetry!
