To Releasing Constraints

To Releasing Constraints,

If you could fly like a bird

would you sing a little song?

would you laugh some more?

or would you dance on clouds?

walk on stars?

Sooner or later we all realize that to fly like a bird

would be to be like a bird

with wings fit to hold bones just right

nature to teach but to ultimately expect flight

we are not birds

and the closest we get to skipping on air and looking down at the world

is a reflection in a puddle

or maybe a lake, ocean or river

while we see the sky filled with clouds

we cannot reach down and pat the air or whirl between cumuli

do not focus on what limitations are set

what boundaries cannot be crossed yet

the ability to sing, to laugh, to dance must not be beholden to an if only

because while you never learned to fly

birds never learned to dance

but nevertheless, they dance among the clouds
