Relief

Sleep eludes me

There is no relief,

No break in my day,

Rest beyond my reach.

The bliss of the deep-

The deep of a dream

Taunts me; mocks me,

Leaving me insatiable-

Yearning for the comfort,

The ease of wide eyes.

To close inside myself

Take refuge in my mind-

Rather than hide.

To sift tediously through

Those thoughts and feelings

From the length of the day.

The tiresome ache radiates

Not only in body, in mind.

Oh how I yearn and pine-

The bliss of the deep-

The deep of the dream.
