Remain Strong

Simple equations roll down my mind like tape scrollers listing quadratic equations that

 I am eager to unwind

I am a single cell simple and fresh waiting to grow and capture memories full of crust and dough

Born in the chaos of Miami Beach still couldn’t find a day to watch the clear blue sea

When I feel like I have an old lady back I stand tall, smile, and forget the fire and flesh

Words pile up like a grand tower waiting for me to climb

I recall the time the doctor misread my CT scan

 A tumor! She said

Heavy rocks craved into my soul and

“Still I rise” as Maya Angelou did know that after all a tumor did not exist

Higher and higher I climb Wiping the pain away,
don't lose your will to fight,
Make a difference change the world that’s all I would say

In the end the grass should be green, pink flowers should flutter into the air, and a big white smile will dance my life away.
