To Remember

It’s the unfamiliarity from within the mind

That haunts those who wish to remember

The rasp of a rocker on aged wooden floorboards

The soothing ticking of a grandfather clock

The calming swish of an ocean

Caressing a coastline

Its little things like this

That can become unknown

A memory that is lost forever

With no way to return home

It’s this unfamiliarity from within the mind

That will constantly struggle to remember
