remember green and remember blue

when a paralysis of the spirit befalls

your wounded heart

when the literal heaviness of being

anchors your will to move forward

and your memory of joy

can no longer manifest in the moment

remember pink

the tender playfulness of all that is pink

pink dares you to just ‘go there’

newly painted toes

the shirt that started that one conversation,

pink arrives before we do

and leaves a question behind

remember red

lipstick smeared on your collar

the lingerie that started an affair

a companionable campfire,

the softly glowing embers

accentuating a night to remember

red takes you places

pushing your limits

red holds you in an alternative embrace

remember all of the green

that has graced your life

barefoot adventures,

green invites rolling and tumbling

through sprinklers and flowers

green is freshly cut

greeting the nose and eyes

green is life

and tastes great with garlic

green revives then regenerates

when life has left you without a clue

close your eyes

and remember blue

breathe blue in softly

behold its heaven-like beauty

blue renews our appreciation of the sky

it’s open and has a mind of its own

blue washes away gray

and carries the sun on a leash

find some green

lay on your back

and let blue absorb you

it may sound silly

but it still is true

when life forgets your name

remember green and remember blue

Poetry is an outlet for me, but also a way to try and understand others. Music is poetry accompanied by beautiful sounds.. I have just turned 60 but have been writing poetry for about 20 years as a way of understanding 'stuff' (stuff=feelings, reactions, sorrow, etc). Reading others' words and writing my own brings me joy (insert various reactions here depending on the writing and/or my state of mind :) )
