What would it take

To remember humanity

What if

We unplugged our devices

Stopped making such sacrifices

Reclaimed our daylight hours

Refused to serve devourers

Of life

Of love

Of liberty

How do we know

Whose agenda we're serving

I'd venture a guess

It makes you depressed

You should be swerving

Away from the choices

That render you voiceless

Cog in the machine

What you've always been

Its illusions of grandeur

The security of tenure

Million promises million lies

Doing things logic defies

Only to be acceptable

Only to be palatable

As though shrinking back

Shields you from attack

When you are othered

Your hallowed leaders unbothered

But yet you persist

More sensible to resist

Forgo short-term comfort

We are not separate

Remember who you are

Interconnected

Immaculate

Divine
