Remember Me

Thu, 01/28/2016 - 00:36 -- mking18

The memories come in flashbacks.

In the silent moments between thoughts.

They creep in with no warning and have no remorse as they leave.

Try as I might, I am worthless to stop them. To end this savage war.

Instead, I must brace for the bullets. Prepare to relive this battle field once more.

Reality fades as the bullets whiz by. Closed eyes that can still see.

Wounded, I run. I run from the chaos around me.

I scream for help but no one hears my pleas.

For this war zone is all but me.

My brain is the gun and my heart, the trigger.

Every beat, another shot.

Until my mind is shattered.

But one last shot is all it takes before the memories fade away.

I open my eyes and what do I see? That the only one bleeding is me.
