Remember Me As I Was
Remember me as I was
A girl so full of light and joy
She could light up her darkest days
And wake up the next morning and all would be forgotten
A girl who would pick roses from a field
But never once got pricked by a thorn
A girl who would make a bouquet of dying roses
But still found a way to find them beautiful
Remember me as that girl
A girl so full of life and passion
A girl that believes there's nothing purer than a ray of sunshine
A girl who waits for the rainbow at the end of a storm
A girl who would give out so much love she barely had any love for herself
Remember me as I was
Not as I am
For I am the storm that everyone waits to pass before they can admire the rainbow
I am the cloud that covers the purest ray of sunshine
I'm the thorns on the roses
The dying roses
I am the reason that the roses are dying
Repelling the love and care they need to keep growing
As the petals fall and hit the ground
He loves me he loves me not
The elegance and the beauty of the petal begins to rot
I am the reason no one picks the roses
They don't want to get pricked by thorns
Because one drop of blood is too much to ask to be picked
That one drop of blood could keep me alive for an eternity
Turning the blood into hope and the hope into love
To repair my wounded stem and my bruised petals
Nothing beautiful comes without consequences
But not many people are willing to sacrifice one drop of blood to save a dying rose
So please remember me as I was
Not as I am
Because I wouldn't want to remember me as I am either
