Remember When
Dear S,
Remember when you thought
the world was just pure cruel.
Remember when you hid
and your falling tears felt cool.
Do you remember when you
tried to stop the pain and
darkness in your head?
Well today, I share with you
all the beautiful things you missed,
everything you would not dread.
I'm sure you don't remember the people who cared about you so,
the ones that tried to reach out to you even when you said no.
Remember all those quiet nights, writing into bliss-
every word you typed so lovingly, the feelings I don't miss.
Remember every time you made your brother laugh,
every note you turned into music from that gorgeous staff.
And now, I know you won't remember this
but feeling loved as if nothing was ever amiss.
"It gets better" is a cliche you never liked,
but seeing those two girls smile just makes everything feel alright.
Love is oh, so powerful. Please remember now,
happiness is something you deserve not something someone allows.
