Remember You
Dear me,
Remember I am 17 going on 30 and ambitious
I wonder why ambition has to have one set, distant goal in our lives
I hear time rushing away from me if I stop moving, accomplishing
I see people lose opportunities because of their myopic focus on a goal
I want to never stop learning and exploring every possibility, to never stop achieving something, big or small
Remember I am 17 going on 30 and ambitious
I pretend to be any character I admire in order to expand my viewpoint and ambition
I feel pain and happiness working to shape who I am
I touch my mom in awe of the wisdom she holds but cannot always share
I worry that i won’t be able to support my parents when they need it
I cry where my family cannot see so that my pain and worry cannot make them sad
Remember I am 17 going on 30 and ambitious
I understand that life will always give me unexpected twists and turns
I say that life is made up of gray, not black and white
I dream of amazingly impossible things being possible as long as I believe
I try to consider the future and all of its endless possibilities when making decisions now
I hope that I will make the most of my corner of the world
Remember I am 17 going on 30 and ambitious
Remember through the changes and challenges
Remember through separation and reunions
Remember through sadness and joy
Remember the innermost ideas developed and formed by the trials and tribulations that have already been faced
Remember you
