remembering.

remembering the time i only let myself have two strawberries

oh what a lovely day for desert!

but two strawberries meant two too many calories.

so i cut them in half.

two halves of two whole strawberries

two halves of two whole calories

two too many calories.

so like any natural person i cut them into fourths

i still have two.

two halves of two halves of two whole calories

still two too many calories.

but i ate them anyway.

“a treat to myself” i said

for not eating for the whole day

but maybe as i ate two eights of my two whole strawberries

that’s what i became.

just two halves of two halves of one whole me.

but me was too many calories.
