Remembering Music

I could never touch the time; Always flying, zipping by. I danced away my younger years To songs that no one longer hears. School went by in a snap, A blink, a mouse I couldn't trap. And where do all the mem'ries go? For some old times I'll never know. But there was one day in a class-- Junior math, to be exact-- We were working on our own, Solving for the x unknown, Music playing in the back, Softly cov'ring pencil scratch... Then one played to which I'd danced. No one gave the screen a glance. My heart filled with words forgotten, Bringing life to places rotten. I once twirled around the dark. That night passed, but left its mark. No one saw what I recalled. Hands kept moving, numbers scrawled. Alone I realized something tough: I knew then, that I'd grown up. Now I know the faces, names, Of the ones who sing onstage, Or are stuck inside a screen; I listen to know what they mean. Before it was a simple bliss. Here's a tune; come move to this. Now I understand much more. Is that a good thing? I'm not sure.
