Remembrance
Red flags through my actions
Destroyed me with little distraction
The actions broke me, bone by bone
The words scarred me with each phrase
When I was broken you appeared
But you said you were always there
The fights tore at my soul
Where the disconnect left its burns upon me
When it happened I froze
Lost for words, actions, and emotions
But when the dust cleared
I felt like I was drowning
Beneath the words you said, the things you did, and the lies you told
Left me with the realization
I was too scared to ever face
The truth that was right below the surface
One I could never see
When I thought you meant so much to me
But you took part of me
As I gave you the rest
I lost myself during those days,
But I relive them each and every day
The scars on the outside
Are a fragment of the permanent ones on the inside
As I look back upon the days
That seemed like such a blur
Even though I felt each painful second, I spent with you
The feelings I tried so hard to hide
Were the only things there when you weren’t
An agony the privileged never feel
An agony the privileged never hear
An agony the privileged never see.
The darkness encompassed me
During many lonesome times
That I expected you to be there
The days I pass and I know, one thing to be true
Is that I never meant anything to you.
But I’m left with the scars and flashbacks
Of days I’ll never get back
The story of how a hero bled beneath a temptress, burned beneath a temptress, died beneath a temptress.
