Remembrance

Remembrance

By: Sydney Jones

I want to be remembered

My life not drowned by time

Swimming through an endless sea

Of memories that haste to climb

I take matters into my own hands

Because no one will care at all

Unless you spray your handprint well

On an unknown cracked stone wall

I want to be remembered

My life can’t be forgotten

Hidden away deep inside

The fertile ground I rot in

Too many memories that matter

Too many things that I have planned

All in all represented by

A homemade painted hand

I want to be remembered

As someone noble and brave

So i’ll etch my handprint carefully

Inside this dim lit cave

There will be a time they’ll find me

In this somber place I dwell

And maybe this wall will signify

That I lived life, and I lived it well
