Rememory

Remembering is like standing in front of a mirror and saying your name over and over again until it’s like you don’t exist anymore. Instead, all that stares back at you is the hottest day of the year. Walking. Running. One foot in front of the other. Light coruscates forward like a thousand glimmering diamonds on the water. The grass was so cool and refreshing on our backs. The air so hot and heavy on our faces. The sun smelled loud. The two extremes of our body conditions splitting into levels of elation. Indescribable. It’s like listening to that perfect song. Driving for the first time. Holding your breath till you’re blue. Waking up at 3 in the morning cause you dreamt you were falling. The shadows of leaves painted silhouettes on our bodies. Like human wallpaper. Not even the rustle of branches or chirps of crickets were heard. Turn your head and he’s there. A smile. Light danced on his face like a pixie. The rough ridges of his hands are all you can feel with yours. Those hands that pull you to every height and depth your soul can reach. Laundry permeated the air and stained our brains a hundred shades of color. Everything you ever knew or worried about didn’t matter. It was the greenest summer. And sometimes when it snows, the fog shimmers and we play out again in the particles of air we exhaled together. But then life always pulls you back to reality again. That's why you only ever be a rememory. I can never have to strength to let you be again.
