Reminder
Raised by a loving momma and dad
But as I grew up it got bad
Momma and dads love dried up
So momma found a backup
Man of her dreams
But it was just a scheme
His true colors stepped to the light
From then on the worst part of life was night
Screaming and yelling
Over what there was no telling
The swing of a fist
Marked the end of any bliss
Home is supposed to be where you want to be
But it became a place of the opposite for me
I won't get hurt if I stay in my room
But that was a lie, it became my place of doom
Words, aren't the only kind of violence
The worst is the kind that fears you into silence
What went on behind that door
Made it to where I could never be who I was before
Finally told momma what was going on behind that door behind all violent words and swinging fists
Now he's gone but the scares on my wrists
They will always remind me of what he did
He always said I'd wish I was dead as a kid
Now I find myself hearing his words again
And I see that I can never win
I'll always be reminded of what when on behind that door
