Reminiscing
Dear Past Self,
Reminiscing back to a year ago,
Realising how dramatically different life is now compared to back then.
The boy you worried about? Non-existent.
The friends you made? Only kept one.
The exams you stressed about? Over and forgotten.
Why were you so afraid to lose friends, to miss a class, to fail a test, to live a little?
I laugh at how naive you were and how awkward and weird you must have seemed.
But that's the thing about time. Next year you'll look back at yourself,
And realise that your life is an absolute mess at this very moment.
How it could never get any worse and wondering when it will get any better.
You had to go through all of that/have to get through all of this to be where you are now,
To where you will be in the future.
We don't suffer without a cause, we don't deal with pain for no reason.
It shapes us, molds us, creates a better version of us.
Each and everyday.
Life is tough, but we get by, don't we?
We don't notice that we do, but we overcome.
We knock those obstacles over and burn those bridges down.
With every reminiscing moment,
We have to be grateful that we are stronger now, and not weaker.
Sincerely,
A Better You
