Removing My Training Wheels

When I was six, I taught myself how to ride a bike

with no training wheels.

Positioning my bike halfway up

a grass hill behind my house

I lifted my feet off the ground.

I was nervous but I had trust

in myself.

I made it down and turned once again

for the hill.

I took my time, I flew

That same day

I tried the driveway

It was a different way of learning

Than most children receive

I didn’t want to wait for Dad to get home from work

to help me

What if its raining?
